Products that are Environmentally Sustainable

OUR CLEAR SKIES JOURNEY

Sensitive Today for a Better Tomorrow

Cetaphil has been protecting and caring for sensitive skin for more than 70 years, so we know the health of our skin is a reflection of our environment. It’s one of the many reasons that we’re working towards being cleaner, more sustainable and more efficient.

cETAPHIL'S CLEAR SKIES INITIATIVE OUTLINES OUR PATH TO CREATING A HEALTHIER ENVIRONMENT AND BRIGHTER FUTURES FOR ALL

We’re further embedding environmentally and socially responsible practices across the business, focusing on four key areas: reducing our environmental impact, formulating with cleaner ingredients, using smarter packaging and supporting our communities.

This strategic, science-based approach includes ambitious goals aligned with the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including transforming our current factories to achieve 100% renewable electricity by 2022 and carbon neutrality in our current production facilities. As our Clear Skies initiative continues to evolve, so will our goals and the steps we are taking to drive change.

REDUCING ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

We aim to treat the environment like we treat our skin—with sensitivity, compassion and backed by science. Since 2010, Cetaphil and its parent company Galderma have:

●    Reduced water consumption by 33% per ton of product, through programs to recycle and reuse it in factories and research facilities

●    Reduced annual CO2 emissions from factories by over 60%, by using more efficient technology and renewable sources of electricity

Currently, our factories get 95% of their electricity from renewable sources, and no waste ends up in a landfill.

USING SMARTER PACKAGING

Our packaging is as thoughtfully developed as the products inside. Cetaphil uses mostly mono-material containers and closures that are in-part recyclable, so containers and packaging can be recycled at most facilities. Additionally, most products use containers and closure systems that come apart for easier sorting, and our paper-based packaging is made with renewable and biodegradable materials.

SERVING OUR COMMUNITIES

We are proud, longtime partners of Camp Wonder, a summer camp for children with chronic and life-threatening skin diseases, founded by the Children’s Skin Disease Foundation. Each year, our employees and partnering healthcare professionals look forward to volunteering at the camp—a safe haven where kids with skin diseases are not defined by their disease, but simply get to be kids. Galderma and Cetaphil have also donated $1.5M and over 50,000 products since 2012. As the Clear Skies initiative continues to evolve, Cetaphil will look to expand its efforts beyond Camp Wonder to identify organizations around the world that we can support to further our mission of caring for sensitive skin.
